How To Use Unflavored Protein Powder For Weight Loss

Although protein powder is commonly associated with building muscle, it is also very commonly used to help lose weight. But how do you use it for weight loss?

Well, stick with me and I’ll show you how to use unflavored protein powder to get in shape and lose body fat quickly.

To lose weight, you have to take in less calories than you spend. Think of it like a bank account:

If you take out more money from your bank that is currently available – your account will go into overdraft. In this case, your bank account has “lost weight”.

To save money and “put on weight”, you need to put in more than you spend.

This is exactly how your body works.

This is how you can get six pack abs or a beer belly.

The more calories you put into your body, the more your body grows. This can be a good thing if you are trying to put on a lot of muscle or bulk up for a sport, but this isn’t what you want when you are trying to lose weight.

You want to be consuming less calories than your body is using, so that over time your body has to use the calories from your fat stores. When it uses those fat stores for energy, you lose weight!

You can use protein powder as a meal replacement for a couple of meals per day, however you should always still base your weight loss plan around whole foods and always have one meal that includes vegetables, meats and some carbs for energy.

Second – as a post workout shake for weight loss.

Depending on your goals, everybody will take different paths to reach them. If you are wanting to lose body fat quickly and also get a toned and sexy look instead of just losing weight, you will want to do some sort of resistance training. Lifting some weights or doing body weight exercises will help you to achieve this goal.

Using resistance training you can burn a whole lot more calories than just by reducing the amount of meals you eat (by having meal replacement shakes).

Combining resistance training with a protein shake after your workout will help you to burn weight, aid your recovery (so you can workout again soon), and help you to build lean muscle.

Some people will do a combination like this:

  • Meal 1 – breakfast
  • Meal 2 – shake
  • Meal 3 – dinner
  • Workout at about 8pm
  • Meal 4 – post workout shake

This is a highly powerful plan that would help you to lose weight due to skipping lunch and just having a protein shake, but also you are burning a ton of calories with your late workout. Then after your workout, drink a protein shake that helps you recover, and leaves your body free of carbs to burn body fat all night long!
